A little about Fridays at the Farm
Handmade SoapMelanie and I began making soap about 4 years ago when we decided to get together every Friday out at her farm and teach ourselves soapmaking the old fashioned way. We spent many hours reading recipes, testing different scents and oils together and just spending some time together as friends. We learned a lot in that first year and felt we had made some beautiful bars of soap.

Handmade SoapThe next year we moved our operation out of our kitchens and into a renovated room in Melanie's big red barn then we headed for our local Saturday market. We had such a great time that we‚ve only missed two days in the last three years. The market has meant more to us than just a place to sell our products. We have made friendships and learned a lot about a way of life that is more in line with our beliefs of buying locally, slowing down, and being a part of our great community. We are working more than just fridays at the farm now but we are still a small shop of two. We love our little business and we have a lot of fun making all of these products. We hope you enjoy them too.

About our Soap
Hand made SoapWe make soap the old fashioned way by the cold process method much like our ancestors did a couple of generations ago. However, where they used pan drippings and wood ash we use high quality vegetable oils and pure sodium hydroxide.

Things have come a long way since them. Making soap these days is more like a chemistry experiment where everything is measured to a hundredth of an ounce and there are hundreds of different oils and natural additives that can be combined to make truly unique, luxurious soap. We pour our soap mixture into handmade wooden soap molds that Melanie and I made. These molds are then covered for 24 hours while the soap continues it's saponification process. The blocks of soap are then cut and edged and placed on the drying racks to cure for 4 to 6 weeks to ensure a nice hard, mild bar.

Hand made SoapHandmade soapmaking is a long process that requires patience and a good sense of humor but the resulting soap is worth the effort. Unlike most store bought soaps where the glycerine is removed and sold separately, handmade soap retains its natural glycerine which helps draw moisture to the skin. In addition, our soaps are mild and always superfatted with extra beneficial oils to make your skin feel moisturized and soft. Perfect for sensitive skin.

About our Ingredients
Hand made SoapWe believe in using the highest quality natural ingredients we can and certified organic ingredients whenever possible. Many of the herbs that are in our soap and bath salts are grown right on the land we have surrounding the barn. We use vitamin E and Rosemary extract for preservation instead of synthetic paraben mixtures and you will never find filler oils like Crisco, cottonseed oil, or soybean oil in any of our products. We have spent many hours researching the best ingredients and continue to do so to ensure our soaps and lotions are as natural and luxurious as they can be.
